Originally a contemporary watercolour artist I now paint mainly in acrylic and work can be on paper, canvas or on hardwood panels. I love to experiment with different materials, textures and mark making tools. Paintings evolve naturally and develop a character of their own through the build up of layers, texture and glazes.

Inspiration frequently comes from my love of the countryside, trees and landscapes around my home on Salisbury Plain as well as from trips to the local coast and further flung parts of our beautiful country. My love of colour and pattern often pushes this work in an abstract direction.

For my pure abstract work inspiration usually starts with the choice of a colour or more specifically I will be drawn to use a particular colour and the rest then follows. In this way paintings often evolve intuitively as I respond to the ever changing work in front of me. This process of playing, exploring, experimenting and just seeing what happens brings me great joy. Then the hard part begins of problem solving and resolving the image into a coherent whole that is balanced and complete.
